The 2007-2008 season officially begins Saturday October 6, 2007 at 3:00 pm on the Stadium Rink at Robert Morris University Island Sports Center , Neville Island .

Fees:

  1. Fees may be paid at time of registration.
  2. $25 equipment deposit to cover all hockey gear loaned to participants. The deposit is returned at the end of the season when equipment is turned in.
  3. $35 USA Hockey registration. All players are required to register with USA Hockey (detailed in registration packet).

New Players :

If you already play hockey, bring all your gear and ice skates, register, proceed to the assigned locker room, and then meet on the Stadium rink.

Beginners/Learn to Skate:

If you are a beginning ice skater/hockey player, here is a list of what you will need to bring:

1. A helmet (mandatory). If you are just learning to skate, an all-purpose sports helmet will do, such as a bike helmet.

2. Elbow and knee pads, such as for inline skating or skateboarding. Beginning skaters do not need hockey pads.
3. Wear comfortable active wear. No pants hanging down or jewelry. Dress in layers in case you get too warm.
4. Wear a warm jacket or sweatshirt. Wear gloves or mittens. Wear socks.  
5. Rental ice skates are available from the rink free of charge. Obtain skates at the rental desk.
6. You may bring a hockey stick if you have one.
7. Bring a water bottle.

Practice Schedule :

  1. Our full practice schedule is available on the website www.hockeyinthehood.com .
  2. This practice schedule is preliminary. The final practice schedule will be available at the time of registration.
  3. Generally, practice is held twice a week: Tuesdays at 4:30 pm and Saturdays at 3:15 pm from October through March.
  4. Players are divided onto groups based on age and skill level. The total practice time is 50 minutes. The Learn to Skate program (beginners) is the first 25 minutes of practice only. 
  5. Some practices will be blocked out for the travel team in order to prepare for the annual tournament.
